Rockcastle County Schools is excited to announce the launch of the new “Little Rocket Learners” All-Day Preschool Program, expanding preschool opportunities for families across the district. The new initiative will provide all-day preschool access for all eligible 4-year-old children and qualifying 3-year-old children at every elementary school in the district.

The expansion is part of a two-year pilot program designed to increase access to high-quality early childhood education while helping shape the future of preschool learning in Rockcastle County Schools. Additional preschool staff will also be added across the district to support the growing program and ensure students receive meaningful learning experiences in a supportive environment.

The Little Rocket Learners program is focused on helping students build a strong foundation for future success academically, socially, and emotionally. Benefits of the all-day preschool experience include stronger kindergarten readiness, additional opportunities to develop early literacy and social skills, hands-on learning experiences, and increased support for families.

All children who are 4 years old by August 1 are eligible to attend the all-day preschool program. Qualifying 3-year-old children with identified disabilities may also be eligible to participate. Families interested in enrolling will need to schedule and attend a preschool screening and registration appointment at the elementary school their child will attend.

Registration and screening appointments will take place throughout May at Mount Vernon Elementary, Brodhead Elementary, and Roundstone Elementary. Families can contact their child’s school to schedule an appointment and begin the enrollment process.

Through the Little Rocket Learners initiative, Rockcastle County Schools continues its commitment to preparing Rocket Learners for future success by providing high-quality educational opportunities from the very beginning of their learning journey.
