Today, our 5th graders visited Living Archaeology Weekend at Natural Bridge State Park! They got to see and experience the ways our ancestors lived, worked, and used the natural resources around them. What a fun way to bring history to life! 🏹🔥🌿

Happy Arts Education Week! From music and visual arts to drama, dance, and creative expression, the arts help make learning meaningful, engaging, and FUN! We want to give a big shoutout to Mrs. Sandy Allen who works with all of our grade levels to incorporate arts in their learning! Pictured also is art in progress as our 3rd grade students work on their own interpretation of Henri Rousseau's "Tiger in a Tropical Storm."

🦅 Leadership is taking flight at RES! 🦅 We are so proud of our students! 74 students applied for leadership roles at Roundstone Elementary, and today our Eagles are putting their leadership skills to work during the interview process. 🎤✨ From preparing applications to answering interview questions and sharing their ideas, our students are learning valuable skills that will help them become confident, responsible leaders.

Our first graders had a blast celebrating International Dot Day yesterday! Inspired by Peter H. Reynolds’ book The Dot, our creative little artists made their mark, embraced their imaginations, and learned that every big idea starts with a simple dot. A BIG first for our littlest Rocket Learners! 🚀 Tomorrow marks the first day of ALL-DAY preschool across Rockcastle County Schools! 🎉 We are so excited to welcome our Little Rockets for a full day of learning, playing, growing, and making memories. Here’s to an exciting first day and a great year ahead! ✏️

Hello! Parents, we are so excited for the first day of preschool tomorrow! We look forward to our smallest eagles joining us in school! Transportation for preschool students looks a little bit different. Please see the visuals and read below for instructions: If you are dropping off your preschool student in the morning, remember the car rider line is 7:30am-7:55am. You will follow the same car rider line as Kindergarten-5th grade. Choose a lane when you enter the parking lot, follow staff directions to merge into 1 lane, and follow the car rider line to the side of the building. When you get to the K-5 drop off section, please roll down your window and let them know that you have a preschool student. Staff will then direct you to the preschool drop-off zone. When you get into the drop-off zone, if your preschool student cannot get out of the car by themselves, you may quickly exit your vehicle and help get them out of the seat. Please remain by your car until a staff member comes to take your child's hand. Staff will then direct them into the building and to their classroom. In the afternoon, preschool will have their own car rider line 2:55pm-3:05pm. You will drive into the parking lot and form a line in front of the building, stopping at the end of the porch. (If a bus is parked in one of the end parking spots please be careful going around the bus). The cars that are directly in front of the porch will be loaded. Parents may get out of their car to make sure their child gets safely into their car seat. (NOTE: Unfortunately due to time constraints staff will not be able to chat about your students' day, we will need to move the car rider line along. You can always message me for any questions or concerns!) Siblings will be released with them. Make sure to have your car tags hanging from your mirror! If you do not have your car tag tomorrow it will be sent home; staff will check your ID to confirm you are on their pick-up list. Once the cars in front of the porch are loaded safely, staff will direct them out of the parking lot and the next set of cars may pull up. Please make sure to be on time. At 3:05pm the car rider line will end! Staff will have to move to the main car rider line. If you are not in line before 3:05pm you will have to go through the main car rider line! Please be patient with us these first few days as this will be new for everyone. As we work on the routine we will get everything smooth!

🌟 Great learning AND leadership are happening at RES! 🦅 Our 5th grade leaders are putting Habit 5: Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood into action as they mentor our Kindergarten students through their morning routines. 💙📚 From helping with routines to offering encouragement, our older students are showing what it means to be a leader and a role model. And our Kindergarten Eagles absolutely LOVE having their big-kid mentors there to help them get their day started! We are so proud to see our students building relationships, showing kindness, and helping one another grow. That’s Leader in Me in action! 🌟🦅
